Signed Loet Vanderveen Crystal Baccarat Tanganyika Imperial Cheetah Figurine

Description

Designed by famed American animal sculptor Loet Vanderveen for Baccarat's African themed Tanganyika Collection, this regal beauty appears almost liquid as it glistens in the light.
It is just a little over 6.5" tall by 5.75" wide and 5.5" deep and nearly 2 lbs. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, flea bites, fractures, or repairs detected. The standard Baccarat etched trademark logo is on the bottom of the sculpture and the artist's first name, "Loet", is etched into the bottom of the right front paw. It's magnificent.
I think that this may have been given as an award or gift because there is a small inscription on it that has the letters CW and the words "piece of string".  It's small and hardly noticeable. Perhaps it once belonged to someone rich/famous? It's a mystery (cue mysterious music :) I'm curious and interested to find out what it's about so if you know then, please let me know, and then I'll let everyone else know :)
