Description
Very interesting collection of 39 personal letters affiliated with the A. V. Rogers family, and William Henry Goodwin family of Iowa and Colorado. Some written in late 1890's through 1920's. Mrs. Rogers (Elize Goodwin) lived in the Denver area and communicated with brothers, sisters and nieces. The letters are filled with instances of life then, family matters, etc.*****One unusual letter contains a small piece of hair, lace and coffin covering from Elizabeth Ann Gorman Goodwin's burial, along with a letter from 1893. It is addressed to George W. Goodwin in Wetmore, Colorado.*****
Also included are 43 vintage post cards, most with stamps and cancelations. Some are Christmas related, a few have photos of places (Colorado, Utah, California, Bedford Iowa), the rest are period designs. Mostly from early 1900's.
Of great genealogical and family history interest, as well as stamps, post cards, artistic. With study, you could place each member of this family in time and place.
The Goodwin family included Henry Goodwin (Craig, CO), George W Goodwin (Wetmore, CO), Mary Goodwin Ball (Craig, CO), Elize Goodwin Rogers (Denver). There is also information about the Alphenus Virgil Rogers family, to whom many of the letters and card were sent.
