    Description

Gold plated 1975 penny stamped 12-31-74 representing the date citizens could legally own gold again.
These were a novelty item created privately using a genuine 1975 cent, counterstamped with 12–31–74, and then gold plating them. They were made to commemorate the end of Roosevelt’s gold recall order of 1933. 12/31/74 was the first day since March 5, 1933 that US citizen could legally own gold without restrictions. Being a privately made item and not something official, they are just an altered cent.
This unique penny comes with a box too.
