Description
This item is a hard cover book-The Buckners of Virginia and the allied families of Strother and Ashby
, edited by William Armstrong Crozier, published privately for William Dickinson Buckner by The Genealogical Society, New York 1907. This is not an original copy but, as printed inside the front "This is an authorized facsimile of the original book, and was produced in 1975 by microfilm-xerography by Xerox University Microfilms, Ann Arbor, Michigan, U.S.A.". It has a dark blue cover, and although somewhat dirty on the outside, is in good sturdy condition. The pages are uncut folded copied pages in the manner of facsimile books of that time. The UM library copy of the book was copied as it was with whatever writing or marks were in their copy. As far as I can tell there are no actual writings in this book, only copied underlines, notes, etc from the original text. The text is all clearly legible, although some of the pages have the text slightly crooked. The illustrations and photographs, however, either did not copy well, or have faded as they are very poor and of little or no use. This is a very important work if you study Buckner family history and is a collectible edition in its own right as it is a rare facsimile edition.
