Maker
: It’s hard to fully capture in words the brilliance and clarity of Baccarat crystal. Whatever it is that the great French companies do to make their crystal so pure, so rich in highlights and so incredibly desirable, it makes any piece of Baccarat a work of art.
Marks
: The base of this superb
decanter is marked with Baccarat's etched circle mark. The stopper has the etched number 963 on the bottom.
Design
: The pattern is called Tallyrand. The sleek and cosmopolitan design of 8 panels coupled with the high quality of the crystal mean that the decanter would make an impressive statement in any décor, on any occasion.
This decanter has the cut version of the stopper, giving the impression of a double layer.
Tallyrand was produced from 1937 to 1970, making this decanter at least 51 years old.
Size
: It's 9 1/2 inches tall including the stopper, 8 inches tall without the stopper, 2 inches wide at the top and 4 inches wide at the base. It weighs 3 pounds 8 ounces including the stopper.
Condition
: The decanter base has no nicks, chips, cracks, marks, stains or repairs. There are many scratches on the bottom - examples are shown in the photo with the penny and red arrows.
There is a tiny chip on the end of the stopper; that's shown in the photo with the penny.
The decanter has been washed but could use a more thorough cleaning.
