Antique BACCARAT France Cranberry Ruby Red Cut to Crystal Wine Decanter Set with 8 matching Long Stem Wine Glasses. Mint Condition c. 1900
MINT CONDITION. c. 1900 Antique Baccarat France FINE HAND CUT CRYSTAL CRANBERRY RUBY RED RUBY WINE DECANTER SET WITH EIGHT MATCHING TALL STEMMED WINE GLASSES. All in Excellent Mint Condition. Each of the Eight Tall Stemmed glasses measure 8.5 inches high x 2 1/8 inches diameter. The decanter measures 15.25" to to top of stopper x 4.5" inches diameter. This set is priced 00 under auction value of similar Baccarat decanter sets sold in the past. This matched antique set of Baccarat cranberry cut-to-clear Baccarat glasses and Matching Decanter/Stopper have been finished in an ornate cranberry cut to crystal pattern consisting of micro carved out crystal designs on the crystal stems of the glasses and on the Decanter; cross-cuts, rays, hobstars, grapes, vines, and Florals. See Pictures. Pictures are part of the description. The body of the decanter features large clusters of grapes along with faceted grape leaves and vines, and florals… an effect best appreciated in photos. The lower portions of the decanter is cut in a scalloped edge design while the undersides are finished with a deeply cut 16-ray star. The decanter is topped by a large faceted clear stopper. As seen in the accompanying photographs, the various types of cuts used refract light in a multitude of ways, giving this outstanding decanter and wine glass set a great deal of visual interest and pleasure to the senses. The decanter is in mint antique condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The underside has little shelf wear, if any, and the stopper shows little sign of use. The decanter has a tapering form with narrow carved out cranberry to crystal neck widening to a 2” open cranberry rim; and stands about 15.25" tall from the display surface to the top of its stopper x 4.5"Wide at the widest point of the decanter. The "starred base" of the decanter is 2.75" in diameter while the rim is 2 across. The mouth of the decanter has 1" opening. The decanter is a substantial heavy piece with a combined weight with stopper of circa 3lbs. The Eight Hand Made Tall Wine flawless Wine Glasses each are each about 8.5”H each x 2 1/8”W rim opening and weigh anywhere from 205-260gr. each; since each glass is individually hand made; the weight of each glass varies somewhat… so let’s say about 1451oztw (3.2lbs tw) for the eight glasses.
This highly decorative decanter and wine glass set displays beautifully and would look fabulous on a sideboard as a stand alone focal point. The set would make a wonderful addition to a collection of antique glass from times gone by when artisans and craftsmen took the utmost pride in their work and craftsmanship.
