    was born in 1857 in Chicago, IL and died in 1907 in Iowa. He was the son of German  immigrants

    , per his marriage record. He married
    Margaret Louella  "Maggie" Sterling/Starling
    (1842-1914). She was the daughter of
    Richard Oscar Sterling
    and
    Nancy E.  Lindsey
    They had three children who survived to adulthood: Richard Leroy, Marie. B, and  Lois.
    Richard Leroy Pfaffle
    (1884-1955), married
    Caroline Bishop Stanley
    (1879-1948) in 1916. She met  Richard while visiting his "dude ranch" in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She was from Nahant, MA. She bore him one child  who did not survive. They were divorced in 1931.
    Marie B. Pfaffle
    (1892-1988), married
    Edwin F. Wolfe
    (1881-1967), a dentist, in 1915 at Jackson,  MO.
    They had two children, William and Margaret:
